The Waterfall Incident occurred decades before the main story takes place. Performed by the fifth fallen human, 39 monsters were killed and 29 injured.
It had a lasting impact on the Underground, leading to the creation of Fort Aquarius and Forgespring. Even today, monsters see it as a sign of the dangers of humanity and fear that it could happen again.
Overview[]
While details are mostly shrouded in mystery, we do know the Waterfall Incident began when the Integrity human left the ruins and was ambushed by a group of aggressive monsters, it turned her from a once kind child, to believing that fighting and killing was the only way out. After she killed the pursuing monsters and then collapsed from exhaustion, reinforcements came in and took her to the Snowdin Inn, she however believed it was capturement, and so went outside shortly after waking up. She heard a few guards calling out to her while looking around the town in a blurry vision, but all she knew was that the monsters here, were only enemies.
Details after this are sparce but she would end up going to Waterfall and killing dozens of monsters and injuring a couple dozen others, The Mage heard of the human when she killed the ambushing monsters and was taken to Snowdin Town, and rushed over to help her, but it was too late by then. Integrity Soul couldn't be reasoned with, and she would absolutely not stop until everything in her path was dead. Toriel and Gerson would have to step in to help fight her as The Mage couldn't take on Integrity alone. After many attempts and reloads, the Integrity human was finally killed, however the loss of all the monsters and the other ones injured would not make this a good victory.
Aftermath[]
The aftermath of the incident left many seeking vengeance and caused monsters to view all humans as dangerous, with some even fearing the Mage despite their heroism in the incident. Fort Aquarius was constructed to not let something like that happen ever again and Forgespring was built was to give the monsters constructing the Fort a place to rest and organize. Forgespring was also meant to be a safer more secure home for Waterfall's residents to prevent another similar event from happening. The Perseverance SOUL recieved many suspicious looks when they travelled through Snowdin, though they were fortunately not attacked. The incident coupled with the Dreemurr Tapes made monsters even more hateful, and they still hold their views on humanity by the time Frisk comes around.
